What You’ll Learn

Campus Food Systems

Learn how food moves from producers to your plate, who makes the decisions, and how corporations use money and size to control the system. You’ll understand how campus food systems can hurt small producers and workers, and how to organize for change.

And so much more.

Campaigning

Learn tools based on RFC’s history of campaigning on campuses. You’ll gain skills that you’ll deploy as you actively work to win campaigns on your campus.

What You’ll Do in an Organizing Fellowship

  • It is a dynamic hybrid position where you are trained and supported over distance to work for change on your campus. It involves self-direction and strong time management.

  • Working remotely has unique challenges. As does leading meeting with other students and stakeholders. You’ll be expected to have strong time management and communication skills.

  • With support from RFC staff, you will lead campaigning for a Real Food Campus Commitment. This will involve public speaking, problem solving, and collaboration.

  • Base-building is important ongoing work. You’ll give classroom pitches, table, and flier. You’ll plan and hold events and build excitement, commitment, and awareness!

  • You and other students you recruit will create and share strong messaging in support of your campaign and campus goals!

  • As a leader on campus, you’ll be supported in creating a strong, vibrant, and collaborative culture in RFC work. We’ll support you planning for continuity so your work won’t just disappear!
