  • College students have the unique opportunity to influence how their campuses spend their large food budgets! Divesting from corporate food systems and supporting local, resilient, under-served producers will benefit the environment, farm and food chain workers, as well as your dining halls!

It is your money they are spending, it’s time to make sure it is going where you want!

  • No! Attendance and participation are free, though registration is encouraged to make sure you get all Convergence communications.

  • Yes please! Invite your friends and classmates, professors even.

  • You can reach us anytime via our contact page or email. We aim to respond quickly—usually within one business day.

What to Expect

Expect interactive trainings, connecting you to a national movement and other Chicago students!

With a mix of heavy reality, hopeful visioning, and a fun, supportive culture, RFC welcomes you where you are at. This is a beginning, and you’re perfectly situated to get involved!

Sample Schedule

  • 10-10:30: Check in at our Welcome Table. Orient to the space. Check out the tables. Ground in your intentions for the day!
10:30: Official welcome! We’ll ground in the plan for the day, who is in the room, and connect to what is at stake.

  • This 2 hr training will explain how campus food systems work; the way student money is siphoned out to corporate food; how this hurts small, local, BIPOC producers; and the important role students must play in creating change.

  • Lunch! Provided by local Chicago producers. Fill your cups and bellies!

  • Built from years of on-campus organizing, and informed by national partners, the RFC Campaigning 101 training will give you tools to use in your Food Justice work.

  • We'll end the day with a collaborative conversation about forming a cross-campus Real Food Working Group!
